Updated: Jun 19, 2023

Brunch is one of our favorite weekend activities. It’s one of those meals that is great to do with family or a fantastic way to connect with friends. This breakfast destination list is appropriate for all ages and won't break the bank. While most are located in Bradenton, Florida, they are just a short distance for people traveling from Anna Maria Island, Lakewood Ranch, and the greater Sarasota area.

1. Pier 22-Located in Bradenton right on the Manatee River and is neighbors with Twin Dolphins marina. Depending on the day, there is usually decent parking and complimentary valet. A favorite in our family is the freshly made beignets served warm with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. For something savory, try the crab cake Eggs Benedict. Reservations are recommended through Open Table.

2. Marina Jacks- The second-floor dining room overlooks Sarasota's inter-coastal waterway, providing beautiful views for diners. For something sweet, try the Belgian waffle topped with whipped cream, berries, Vermont maple syrup, and praline pecans. If in the mood for something savory, try the short rib hash served over a bed of herbed potatoes, caramelized onions, and roasted red peppers topped with two poached eggs and salsa Verde. Reservations are recommended through Open Table, and brunch is served only on Sunday. Parking is decent but you may be in for a bit of a walk if it’s a busy day.

3. Riviera Dunes Dockside-Located at the Riviera Dunes Marina, this dining spot has a sweeping view of the marina situated on an inlet or bay area of the Manatee River. Just across the bridge from Bradenton, this Palmetto waterside restaurant offers a delicious brunch and live music on the patio (weather permitting.) Try the Shrimp, and Gouda Grits served with a garnish of diced tomatoes and crumbled bacon. Staying with the Southern vibe, give the Chicken and Waffles a try: a double stack of Belgian waffles served with crispy fried chicken breast and bourbon black pepper maple syrup. Reservations are suggested through Open Table. Plenty of parking in a lot and not a long walk.

4. Sage Biscuit Cafe- Downtown Bradenton breakfast eatery open seven days a week until 3pm.

Convenient parking is located across the street, but it is paid parking. For free parking, try the parking garage next door. The wait is usually reasonable; reservations are not accepted, but it's worth the wait. As the name suggests, the biscuits should be tried. The Biscuits and Gravy are served smothered with house-made sausage gravy and a choice of sides. For something sweet, try the Banana-Caramel-Walnut Brioche French Toast topped with fresh bananas, chopped walnuts, and caramel sauce.

5. Sunnyside Café- Located in Sarasota, this little café has an interesting selection of breakfast options and is open daily. No reservations are needed, and it is reasonably priced.
