A guide to local brews
As if the Sarasota area didn't already have a plentitude to offer, add award-winning local breweries and tap houses to the list. Here is a list of the best places to grab a brew on a humid Florida day. While there are many award winners for the beer, this list is based on the best breweries and tap houses to hop on over, hang out, and enjoy a brew. Listed in no particular order.
Green Bench Brewing Company Located a quick drive over the Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg, this brewery has a rich history and delicious beer. They are more than brewers; they are scientists who take their craft to a new level. We recommend the Sunshine City IPA currently on tap. Beer to-go is available. No food service. 3 Keys Brewing and Eatery- A brewery with plenty of outdoor seating on the front covered deck, back beer garden, and indoor seating to beat the heat. 3 Keys offers a full food menu; try the Ginormous Pretzel served with cheese sauce and the Island Hopper burger. Our current favorite draft is Demondogs DIPA, inspired by the Stranger Things show. 2505 Manatee Ave. E, Bradenton, FL 34208
Magnanimous Brewing-If you are in the mood for a little drive, check out this brewery located in Tampa. 1420 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602, or try the tasting room in Bradenton at 803 17th Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205. No food service, but they have a tasty selection of beers to try. We recommend the Space Turtle, an interesting Imperial Stout aged 12 months in bourbon barrels and notes of cocoa and vanilla beans.
Good Liquid-Located in Lakewood Ranch, Good Liquid offers a full array of food items and
various brews on tap. Our current favorite is the Pineapple Jalapeno Cream Ale, a tasty light beer with a small kick. 1570 Lakefront Dr., Sarasota, FL 34240
Big top Brewing Co.- Named as a nod to the famed Ringling Circus, this brewery serves up a nice selection of IPAs, Lagers, and Ales. Our favorite is the Circus City IPA. Food trucks provide tasty eats, and parking is plentiful. 975 Cattlemen Rd, Sarasota, FL 34232
Corporate Ladder Brewing Company- In a sleepy community outside Sarasota, this tap room in Palmetto delivers on a good variety of drafts. Food trucks are on-site, and ample outdoor seating. Try the Dead End Job IPA. 4935 96th St E, Palmetto, FL 34221
Tamiami Tap Room- Full food menu and live music in a tropical theme space that is welcoming and offers plenty of seating. Though this is not a brewery, they have a lot of beer offerings such as Cigar City Jai Alai and Big Top Hazy Highwire. Order a meal and relax on the patio to some live music. Calusa Brewing-Features a large taproom with 16 rotating draft lines and daily food trucks. Our current favorite draft is the Zote, a citrusy IPA. Growlers to-go are available. 5701 Derek Ave, Sarasota, FL 34233
99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop-Much more than a taproom, 99 offers in-house made food like flatbreads and sandwiches while offering beer and wine from all over the world. Growlers are available as well as other bottled libations. Sidewalk café style with a cozy interior, it's worth the visit. 1445 2nd ST, Sarasota, FL 34236
Motorworks Brewing-In downtown Bradenton, this brewery is touted as having the largest
beer garden in Florida. Offering live music under an over 100-year-old oak tree, there are tasty food options from food trucks and plenty of seating and parking. There are many award-winning beer options, but the most notable is Pulp Friction, a grapefruit-infused IPA, or the Midnight Espresso, a rich porter infused with in-house roasted coffee beans and notes of caramel and chocolate. 1014 9th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205
